Migration audit of a legacy DAM archived on AWS S3
Proving access, measuring real volume and locating usable metadata before costing a migration into Bynder.
The engagement
The full backup of a watchmaking and jewellery house's legacy DAM had been dropped into an S3 bucket. Before costing the migration into Bynder, three questions had to be settled: is access actually working, does the volume match what was announced, and above all, where does the usable metadata live?
We wrote the inventory and access-check scripts, then walked the entire bucket: over a million and a half objects, several terabytes, broken down by folder family and prefix. The exercise confirmed the announced volume was consistent and identified where genuinely reusable structure resided.
We delivered a formatted report (connection validation, detailed breakdown, migration watch-points), along with the reusable inventory scripts. The client could commit to the next phase on observed figures rather than declared ones.
